Color and texture - My true essence
The essence of my work lays in the tailored color treatment and texture of my images. This outcome mostly comes from working with film, from the magic of the analog process. My digital work is also absolutely influenced and inspired by working with this process.
I am especially amazed by the outcome of handprinting. "Handprinting" or enlarging is the process whereby the film negatives are projected onto a piece of photographic paper resulting in a positive print – or a handprint.
The washed-out color of the handprints and the texture of the paper make a perfect mix for an editorial aesthetic that is hard to compare.
The analog process is organic, slow, natural, tangible, and unique, and I try for my work to absolutely convey that feel.
