Handprinting - The essence of my work
My guilty pleasure is that I spend way too much time locked up in a dark bathroom in my home in Madrid. Yeah, you've heard right.
Handprinting is the process whereby the film negatives are projected onto a piece of photographic paper –that's what I do in my bathroom, and that's where the color conversion happens, from negative film to a positive print.
When you handprint, the color conversion happens in the analog world, opposing a film scan, which does it already in the digital realm. That's what makes the whole difference, as the analog color conversion is organic, natural, real and unique.
This process makes you slow down and come in physical contact with every frame, making you appreciate every picture you take. And most importantly, it gets you away from your phone!
